In the South of France, this area produces large quantities of wine. Some of the best regions like Corbieres and the Cotes du Roussillon produce much smaller yields and focus on quality rather than quantity. This is also a region where organically grown grapes are quite possible due to the favorable weather conditions.
This is the top cuvee from the estate of Bila Haut. It comes from the oldest vines and it showcases the Grenache variety, but is a blend. Released only after extended aging, only 25 cases of this wine are imported into the US. A true expression of the finest the estate has to offer, and is reviewed quite well by the critical press.

Michel Chapoutier has built a world wide reputation in the Rhone but his vineyard and winery holdings are not confined to that area. He also has a great estate further south in the jewel of the Languedoc known as the Cote du Roussillon. Here, at Domaine de Bila Haut, old vines of Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan are carefully cultivated using sustainable and biodynamic growing methods. In the hills of the Agly Valley, the Cote du Roussillon Villages area make truly unique and superb red blends.
At lower elevations, a unique blended white wine is also produced. Here Macabeo, Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris are carefully grown and vinified to produce an elegant, crisp, and mineral laden wine with lingering notes of citrus, melon and saline flavors.
